The Leading Edge of Medical Manufacturing
With the Twin Cities metro area being a hotbed of medical devices manufacturing, Hallfield Controls has had the opportunity to work with several companies in the field. Specifically, Hallfield Controls has assisted our customers in the area of automated manufacturing and assembly.
In many ways, medical manufacturing shares the skill set and services
required by industrial automation
with a few minor but important distinctions. Where industrial automation tends to take up floor space and run on 240/480 VAC 3Ø power, medical automation tends to take up bench space and run on 120/240 VAC 1Ø. In addition, documentation and quality are at the forefront of every design and manufactured part.
Hallfield Controls has experience in every phase of medical equipment manufacturing:
Understanding and developing Software Requirement Specifications (SRS)
Understanding and developing Software Design Specifications (SDS)
Understanding traceability and cross reference matrices

Clear Reporting in Multiple Formats
In addition, Hallfield Controls has worked with our customers to build the appropriate level of reporting into equipment to support manufacturing quality requirements in the form of log files such as CSV or other custom flat file formats. The data can be accessed via the machine interface, USB transfer, FTP, or web servers located on the equipment. We build this functionality into both PLC / HMI-based and PC-based control systems and provide programming support and development for integration into new or existing quality databases through standard techniques like SQL and web services.
